Our Goosebumps Book Study

For the past week my class and I were doing a book study about Goosebumps.

We had to make a poster to hang up in our school library. My group (Tyla, Sebastian, Maranatha and Jamaine.) Were writing about the night of the living dummy series and the other groups were writing about the author, drawing illustrations and writing the blurb. After we had planned everything out sorted out which goes where we pasted them on.

After we had done all that it came out fantastic.

My i phone 6s made out of modelling clay

For art we had to split into groups of 4 for our plan. My group was Tyla, Mele and Pepe.

Mr Reid told us that we we're going to make things out of modelling clay, but he also said that it should be digital. My group and I chose an i phone 6 s (all the other groups copied). The reason why we were making an i phone 6 s is because that was the only instruction video we can find on making something digital.

We then moved on to planning out how it's going to look (not as a group). When I thought I was just about to finish I remembered that Mr Reid told us we had to do all the equipment to it to, i was so mad. Any way when I finished planning everything out I was onto making it. I started making it a few days later i finished planning it because I had a lot on y list.

When I finished I was relieved.

Touch Rugby

Every Thursday we've been having touch lessons with this tutor Trevor for 3 weeks.

For the first 2 weeks he taught us how to plant the ball, make sure to put your hand out before you get touched (so you stay onside) and pass it once you pick it up (after it has been planted). After all that hard, tiring work we played a few passing and running games such as rat & bunny. The last week was mean/cool/amazing/fantastic, because all we done was gather up all our skills and played touch straight through.

It was sad that we had to go because that was the end of the lessons.

Michael Joseph Jackson

Please write me a song
For writing this morning we had to write our favourite singer, band or musician. Here is my introduction.

Someone way beyond amazing had a bright career in front of himself, his name is Michael Jackson. To me Michael Jackson is one of the best singers in the world and he’s like Whitney Houston but a little better (to me that is). He is like this kind of guy who goes with the flow, or in other words takes it nice and smooth.

Chatham Island: Forget Me Not

In the morning after fitness students from Tamaki College came to our school to dig out the plants outside our classes. Why? so we can plant better ones. We had to write what plants we would like on our chrome books.

This is the best paragraph: First is the Chatham Island- Forget Me Not. It has light blue pedals and is dark blue in the middle. P.s I think the name is pretty smart. Forget me not image

Not long after Mr Reid took photos. What a way to start a day, under our desks. *A shakeout drill is an earthquake drill that all NZ schools do.

Venus

The second planet from the sun is Venus, I reckon it is one of the worst planets in our Solar System. It is always covered with clouds full of little drops of acid. It is nearly as large as the earth and the air around it is poisonous. The trapped heat in the clouds make it the hottest planet and to make it worse the surface is covered with lava and volcanoes. The planet is so hot that it would melt zinc and metals (and I thought Mercury was the hottest planet.)

Cindy In The House Play At PT England

On Monday the 18th of September straight after we ate we walked down to Point England School to watch a play performed by the Point England Kids. It was a musical, comedy and dance play made into one. The schools all around Glen Innes including us were invited. It was really cool because they ended up closing the blinds and turning the lights off. Also I really enjoyed this part when they were in a gym and all of a sudden they were doing the Harlem shake.

Myron Simpsom

IMG_20150908_094712 (1).jpgYesterday morning everyone went to the multipurpose room for a Duffy meeting with Myron Simpson (a NZ cyclist) to tell us about how reading is important and to show us his equipment. The fastest Myron ever drove his bike was 110 km an hour, and if he gets caught by a police while driving that fast past our school his fine will be $700.

Back when he was around 3 years old his older brothers helped him ride a bike on training wheels then so on. Myron then grew up and entered a Juniors World Champions in Mexico and came second. He said what made it better was that his family were there to watch. Later on he made his own little muesli bar business and called it Myrons’ Muesli.

IMG_20150908_095524 (1).jpgMyron wanted to join the Olympic games team and got a sponsored bike from a club of his. He and his parent helped him make the rest of the aerodynamic equipment for the bike. His uncle also painted his aerodynamic helmet. Later on Myron told us that the sponsored bike cost $15.000 that's more than his car. After we sang the Duffy song sadly we had to go.

Jill Mcdonald
Jill McDonald was an illustrator for the NZ School Journals and was born in 1927. At primary it was obviously clear she had a talent for drawing, she could draw straight lines and draw things in detail. Jill drew thousands of illustrations for school journals by hand and there were no computers to help her. One of the best known drawings of hers’ is the Quentin bird. Sadly she died in 1982. My mum told us what to do so we made a cake, pancakes, bacon and eggs. We secretly went into the lounge (where dad was sleeping), woke him up and sang the birthday song and ate.
